Important terms:
- Truancy Absence- an absence that does not have a doctor's note or guardian note to excuse the absence
- Attendance for Credit- a student must be in school for 90% of the year. any absence (excused or unexcused) counts towards credit or promotion to the next grade
What does this mean for parents/guardians?
-
- send a note with your child any time an absence occurs to prevent truancy absences
- 10 or more unexcused absences are subject to a truancy citation
